I discovered Unity Stamp Company through a Facebook group I was following.
This is one of the first stamps I ordered and I couldn't wait to use it on a journal page.
This is Dina Wakley's 6 x 6" mini-journal and I love how quickly pages come together in this format.
The background for this page was inspired by the t-shirt a participant wore to a session. I would not have typically combined these colours, but they looked so great on her top, that I jumped in.
I applied the strips of ink to the page background using the rectangle applicator and dragging it in rows down the page, alternating the grey and pink oxide inks.
I then applied the green using a stencil to add texture and then some additional stenciled design with the pink on the grey areas.
I stamped the lady image onto white cardstock and coloured most of it and then cut it out, tearing the lower edge rather than fussy-cutting to add some more texture and match the tearing around the message panel.
I then re-stamped the lady image onto a patterned page in a magazine and cut out just the hat portion and applied it to the cardstock image to add some dimension and colour that would be found on a hat.
The stamped image also include some "bubbles" around the edge of the main design, but instead of fussy-cutting those out, I cut them off when I trimmed the image but then recreated them directly on the background and repeated those around some of the other elements to add some continuity to the page.
I scoured some magazines for "happy" words and stamped them onto coloured cardstock and trimmed and applied them to the page to compliment the stamped message from the stamp set.
